In this town you will find the Media Luna Lagoon and the caves of La Catedral.
Rioverde is the most important agricultural, economic and demographic center of the Middle Region of San Luis Potosí. It is located approximately 140 km east of the state capital and has two sites of tourist interest for travelers: El Colibrí, an interactive museum for children, and the Rioverde Regional Museum, which exhibits archaeological objects discovered in the surroundings of the town.
For lovers of outdoor activities, Rioverde offers one of the most attractive natural areas of the entity, the Media Luna Lagoon, ideal for snorkeling, swimming, zip line jumping and camping. Here, in addition to being able to admire the spring that gives name to the place; You can camp and live entertaining days with your friends or family, while the most intrepid swim or dive in this impressive body of water.
During the underwater archaeological explorations carried out in this lagoon, offerings belonging to the “culture of La Manzanilla” or “of the Rioverde Basin” have been found, which reveals that this water mirror has been fundamental for the worldview of the inhabitants of the region since prehispanic times.
Another attraction (no less spectacular) in Rioverde is the Gruta de la Catedral, in the community of Alamitos. This underground treasure receives that name because inside it has formed, for thousands of years, a huge hall with limestone formations similar to a pulpit, with an altar and their respective reclinatories. A wonder you can’t miss!
In Rioverde there are certified tour operators who will organize your itinerary to be able to enjoy these two natural beauties in the Middle Region of San Luis Potosí.
